Au Diable Vert is well known amongst dog owners. Dogs are absolutely welcome there and can even be off leash (if they have a good recall). Enzo and I have been there twice already and it’s just fantastic. There are so many different types of lodging, you can even sleep in a tree house. Plus, the view is spectacular! I mean, is there a better way to wake up than with your dog, in the mountains and a beautiful view? I don’t think so.
When we first went there, we slept in the Coyote Pod and the second time we used the Pico Alto cliff cabin. What you need to know is that you have to leave your car in the parking near the entrance. That means you have to transport all your stuff to your cabin. There are many little carts for that and if you really don’t want to do it, you can pay and have them transport all your things to your cabin. Also, there is no running water or electricity in the cabins, except for the three apartments. There is however a very clean and well taken care of shower and bathroom building. You can also get water from there and wash your dishes in the sink outside the building.
Dogs are also allowed in the trails. As stated before, they can be off leash as long as their recall is good 🙂 There is 14 km of trails that are mostly suited for beginners. There’s also a water stream where dogs can cool down. Plus, dogs have their own swimming pond. Isn’t that wonderful? 😀 They are also allowed to go to the SUP and Kayak activities.
Okay, but what’s the deal with all the cows?!
Au Diable Vert actually raises Highland cows. They are always in the pasture (careful of the electric fence!), except for a few calves who sometimes manage to escape. Enzo was really interested in the cows. However, I doubt the feeling was mutual. He was actually charged by a calf haha!
Psst. If you don’t want to sleep there, you can still go for the day and use the hiking trails.
